hair removal

What is Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is achieved by selectively targeting and destroying hair follicles in order to prevent new hair regrowth. This leads to a reduction of unwanted hair without damaging the surrounding skin. The CoolGlide laser is FDA approved to reduce hair in all skin types. The principle of laser hair removal starts with sucking the skin with a patented vacuum treatment tip, so that the skin becomes thinner. When the skin is lifted, the melanin area of the skin becomes less and it reduces the absorption of energy by the skin epidermis. There are also blood vessels in the epidermis, and the oxygenated hemoglobin in the blood vessels also absorbs light. When the skin is sucked up, the blood vessels are squashed, and the competitive absorption of oxyhemoglobin is also relatively reduced. After sucking up, the HS emits an 800-nanometer laser, which passes through the raised epidermis to the deep hairy area of the skin, destroying the hair follicle, and permanently reducing the hair during the growing period.

  • Unwanted Hair Reduction

treatment timeline:

The treatment usually takes 10-30 minutes

Most areas require 6-8 treatments. The number of treatments required depends on multiple factors – hair thickness, area treated, and hair’s growth cycle. Not all hairs actively grow at the same time.

Hairs actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting.

Lasers disable hairs that are in the growth phase at the time of treatment. Since hairs enter the growth phase at different times, multiple treatments are needed to disable all of the hair follicles.

Results:

With each treatment the total amount of hair is reduced. After a series, patients can expect a 75-90% reduction in amount of hair. Remaining hair is typically much finer.
